Piano Lessons with Kasey

Hello! Welcome to my piano studio.

To guide a well-rounded musician, I believe in building a strong background in ear-training and musicality, exploring students’ interests in playing different genres (contemporary, pop, musical theater, jazz, etc.) and introducing composition and improvisation. My approach to teaching is student-centered and individualized, as I learn and adapt to the student’s character, skills, abilities and musical development in each lesson. I believe students should be surrounded by a nurturing, supportive atmosphere, allowing them to become self-motivated and independent learners. Together, we will learn how to grow as pianists through our musical creativity and story-telling.

Lesson formats

  • If you are Manhattan based, I offer weekly lessons to be instructed within the comfort of your own home.

  • Not located in NYC? No problem at all! Thanks to the internet, we can stay connected over weekly virtual lessons. Biweekly format is available upon request.

  • My studio is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where I offer weekly lessons in my apartment!

  • With this model, we can switch between in-person and online lessons. Weekly and bi-weekly format available.

FAQs

  • Yes, I offer lessons in al-la-carte packages of 4, 8 and 12.

  • Email pianolessonswithkc [at] gmail.com to access a copy of Kasey’s studio policy.

  • To assist students during the week, I will ask them to send me a quick video on Marco polo, a super kid-friendly app available on apple or android devices.

For many of the off-the-bench activities I do with students to help reinforce concepts, I’ll frequently refer to products from my family’s music business, EZ Notes.

If the student has access to a Spotify account, I like to create their own playlist where I can add pieces for them to listen to throughout the week.

  • Yes, I have experience tutoring students who are preparing for the AP Music Theory tests or similar equivalencies to that. However, with all of my piano students, I include music theory in every lesson plan, as it is an essential part of a student’s musical foundation and understanding.
